I always carry a stock of lines in different sinking rates, but practically only use floaters. During strong winds or when I suspect the fish in deeper areas I sometimes use a hover or intermediate flyline.

A flyfisher should not go out without sunglasses. First, they offer protection, especially in windy conditions. If the wind comes from the casting hand the fly may come dangerously close to the angler. Several times I have removed a hook from my hood or my vest. The thought of a fly in my eye is a real nightmare.
